I hope everyone had a fantastic, long weekend! We celebrated my little girl’s 4th birthday! Time sure does fly when you are having fun!

We have lots of fun things planned for this week, too!

I Love You Ritual: Song Selector’s Choice

Morning Messages:

  • Digraphs, middle vowels, same, 1 more/1 less
  • Stretch out words, count forward from 30-60, ten frames
  • Blends, simple subtraction, how many words
  • Match picture to word, write missing words, number bonds

Phonics Skills: Review: long e (ee/ea words) and long a (charting ai/ay words)


100th Day

Interactive Writing:

-Finish: How to build a Snowman Procedural Writing

(incorporating transition words)

-Complete modeling B/M/E story.

-Writing using the word with: I want pizza with pepperonis.

Reading Skills: story elements, analyzing characters, comparing stories

Reading Activities:

-MLK: was, had, wanted

-Read The Hat

*chart story elements, compare story to The Mitten.

-Create B/M/E over The Hat.

-Use post-its to jot thinking

Reading Anchors:

Math Skills: solve word problems using objects and drawings to find sums up to 10 and modeling the action of joining to represent addition. Explain strategies used to solve word problems

-Calendar, months of the year, days of the week, counting forward/backwards and by tens, 1 more/1 less, days in school, Ways to Show a Number:

Solve the problem as quickly as possible and erase it!

-Snowball Addition

-Spin and Cover 2D and 3D Shapes

-Flash Card Addition with unifix cubes (each # is a diff. color)

-Put snowmen numbers in order 1-20

-Math in Writing:
Read Animals on Board

Then, use animal puppets or teddy bear manipulatives to act out our own addition stories. While students act out the story, the other kids will write the addition problem on whiteboards!

Other Math Fun:

Afterwards, use actual goldfish to complete a simple addition problem.
