Guided Reading Comprehension Practice Strips After reading our book, I pass out little strips to the students. The strips say, In the beginning, Then, Next, After that, and Finally. The students have to say what is on their strip and tell what happened in the story. We are always talking about how readers are thinkers and this is a great way to get them thinking about their reading.
This group read a version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Then, I brought in some little prop characters and allowed them to act out the story, which they LOVED! We also did a readers theater of the story afterwards.
We have started the WEE Deliver program at the primary. All of the students get to write letters to different people in the school. They then address their letter and mail it. The kids are LOVING receiving mail from people and sending their own!
